Roamin’ Catholics

On Friday, September 27, 2013 the Roamin’ Catholics will be roaming to St. Louis for the Brews and Baseball Tour (with an additional stop for some religious history).  The day begins with a tour of the Shrine of St. Joseph.  This church was founded in 1846 and is the site of the only certified miracle in the Midwest.  The next stop is a tour of Busch Stadium where you will be able to visit the playing field, dugout, the radio booth and other areas.

Lunch (choice of chicken salad, club sandwich or meatloaf plate) will be at the Lemp Mansion, followed by a tour of the home.  John Adam Lemp started the first truly successful brewery in St. Louis in 1840.  The famous and reportedly haunted mansion was built by his family in the early 1860s.  Next is a visit to the Anheuser-Busch Brewery where you will see the original 1885 Clydesdale stables, the ornate brew house and, of course, the hospitality room.  The day ends at Fitz’s Root Beer Company.  Watch the on-site bottling of their famous root beer while you enjoy a delicious root beer float.

The all inclusive price (minus the root beer float) is $67.00 per person.  The bus will leave Sacred Heart at 7:00 a.m. SHARP.  We should return around 6:30 p.m.  (Note:  The Lemp Mansion is ADA exempt and there are eight steps leading up to the home.)  Any questions can be sent to Ron Meyer at or 573-445-2270
